Pakistani Song Copy Row: Bollywood’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Faces Backlash

Bollywood’s upcoming film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane, has landed in controversy even before its release. The issue is not the film’s story or acting, but its recently released song that many are calling a copy of a popular Pakistani track.

The new version, sung by Neha Kakkar and released on September 15, 2025, has drawn instant comparisons to Bol Kaffara Kya Hoga, a 2021 hit originally produced by BOL Beats as the OST for a Pakistani drama. Fans quickly noticed similarities between the two songs, with side-by-side clips circulating widely on social media.

Listeners accused the Bollywood team of “copying” the melody and overall concept without giving due credit. Some users mocked the song by asking, “Is this Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat or Bol Kaffara?” while others went further, calling it “creative theft” rather than inspiration.

The film, directed by Rajeev Bhatia, is a romantic drama revolving around obsession, love, and betrayal. It is scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on October 21, 2025. However, the plagiarism row has already overshadowed its promotional buzz.

This is not the first time Bollywood has faced criticism for borrowing heavily from Pakistani music without acknowledgment. The backlash once again highlights the demand for originality and respect for cross-border creative work.
